The youngest of three children – all talented sportspersons – Mitch Marsh grew up in Perth. His brother, Shaun, plays one-day cricket for Australia, and his sister, Melissa, plays basketball for Perth. As a child, he spent hours on end bowling during backyard cricket matches, yet ended up as a batsman. Mitch and his family relocated to Zimbabwe when he was 11 while his dad coached cricket for six months; an experience that opened his eyes to the world. With a love for animals, Mitch once considered becoming a vet and spent much of his spare team with his ‘pet’ sheep, dogs, cat and kangaroos. Used to the comforts of home-cooked meals, Mitch still lives at with his parents who he’s bugging for a French Bulldog.
