As he sat at the MCG watching the Boxing Day Test in 2009, Michael would have had no idea that 12 months later he would be sitting in the Australian dressing room during an Ashes Test. Michael received his first State contract with the Retravision Warriors in 2010 and six months later was a surprise call-up to the Australian Test team for the third Ashes Test in Perth following a glowing endorsement from the legendary Shane Warne, his former teammate from St Kilda Cricket Club. After carrying the drinks at the WACA and the MCG, Michael made his Test debut in the final Test at the SCG. He was denied a first Test wicket when he had Alastair Cook caught off a no-ball, but he claimed the scalp of Paul Collingwood the next day.
