A gifted batsman, Tom Beaton is very close with his family and lives in Perth with his parents, an older adopted brother and younger sister. Like many professional athletes, Tom was talented at many sports, but his dream of playing cricket for Australia saw him chose cricket over his other love, football. This dream was realised when he captained the Australian U-19 team in 2009. Always up for adventure, Tom’s passion for BMX riding as a child often saw him with shin and Achilles injuries, and he even suffered a few concussions. Since signing a cricket contract, this accident prone thrill-seeker has given bike riding away. Instead he surfs – it’s much safer.
