Richard Levi is a powerful striker of the ball whose talent was evident from his U-19 days. The right-hand opening batsman made headlines earlier this year when he scored the fastest century (45 balls) in Twenty20 internationals against New Zealand. He was immediately signed by the Mumbai Indians in the days leading up to IPL 2012. Levi has been a consistent performer for the Cape Cobras in domestic cricket. He averages in the 30s in all formats of the game. However, he boasts strike-rates of about 100 and 150 in the 50 and 20-over versions of cricket respectively. In IPL 2012, Levi lived his dream of opening the batting with Sachin Tendulkar. As he sets foot on his home turf in South Africa, Levi would want to better his IPL 2012 effort of 83 runs in six matches.
