| CLT20 debut | 2009 |
A right-arm medium pacer and a powerful striker of the ball, Thisara Perera was pegged as an international cricketer since his U-19 days. Although he started his career as a bowler, Perera worked hard at his batting and has developed into a handy all-rounder. He was a member of the Sri Lanka U-19 team during the 2008 ICC U-19 World Cup in Malaysia. He has also played for the Wayamba Elevens in the 2009 and 2010 CLT20 editions. The 24-year-old was part of the Chennai Super Kings during IPL 2010, but was subsequently signed by the Mumbai Indians at the IPL Players Auction in 2012 for USD 650,000, where he played only two matches. The Lankan pacer will hope for more chances in South Africa this season.
