This prodigious young talent drew attention for his run-making ability in junior cricket. He holds the record for being the youngest player to score a double hundred in first-class cricket. And at 17, he was named in an India A squad. Experts marked him out as a batsman to watch out for and some hailed him as the next big thing. He has captained India's U-19 team and was earmarked for greater things before events off the field took a toll on his career. However, IPL 2010 proved to be a boost for the 24-year-old. With 356 runs against his name, he was third only to Sachin Tendulkar and Saurabh Tiwary, among Mumbai Indians’ highest scorers in the tournament. While he had a quiet CLT20 2011 as his team lifted the trophy, Rayudu came back with a bang in IPL 2012, scoring 333 runs at the average of 37. His form will be crucial for the Mumbai Indians in the 2012 CLT20.
