“Carbs” is a left-hand opening batsman, outstanding fielder and an occasional right-arm off-break bowler. After representing England U-19 at the 2000 World Cup, he went on to tour Bangladesh with England A in 2007, then played for the England Lions in 2008, and was selected in the England Performance Squad in 2009-10. He played his one Test match against Bangladesh at Chittagong in 2010. Carberry partnered Neil McKenzie to break not one but two Hampshire all-time wicket partnerships. Michael scored an unbeaten 300 and put on a massive 523 with McKenzie for the third wicket against Yorkshire – a score that also ranks as the ninth-highest partnership in the history of first-class cricket and Hampshire's highest ever partnership.
