Quiet and unassuming, but deadly with the ball, Ravichandran Ashwin is one of the major reasons why CSK got their hands on the IPL trophy twice. The tall right-arm off-break bowler from Chennai was a revelation in the third edition of the Indian Premier League. Ashwin managed to cement his place in the CSK line-up with some miserly spells with the new ball. After an impressive 2010 IPL season, Ashwin was duly rewarded with a place in the Indian squad for the ICC World T20 Championships. He has never looked back since then and is now a vital cog in India’s bowing attack in all formats of the game. Despite the challenging conditions on offer, the 25-year-old will surely be one to watch out for during CLT20 2012 in South Africa.
