Tall, strong and quick, Doug Bollinger is a real handful for batsmen to handle, successfully extracting disconcerting bounce from even docile Indian wickets. Bollinger had to compete with the likes of Glenn McGrath and Brett Lee at state level, but despite the delay in making his international debut, Bollinger grabbed the opportunity with both hands. Success at the international level opened up various avenues for the burly Aussie. A chance to play for CSK in the IPL was too good to turn down – he joined them midway through their title-winning season. The 29-year-old Aussie’s impact was immediate; he took 12 wickets from eight matches and he was an instant hero. Since then, Bollinger has been an important component of CSK’s team composition.
