We have plans for Steyn: Wiese
Titans hope to get on top of SRH pace ace from the get-go come Saturday
Kuhn was confident about the lead up to Saturday’s big match. “I think our preparations have been really good. We have prepared like we prepare for any other game. I think the guys played well in the last game and we will definitely take note of what we have done good and what we have done bad going into the next game.” Kuhn said.
The pitch here in Ranchi has fetched a lot of runs; in the game between the Chennai Super Kings and the Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday, nearly 400 runs were scored. David Wiese was of the view that the pitch could continue to be a belter in the games to follow. “The pitch has been good so far and there have been a lot of runs scored on this field,” he said. “It is not quite what we expected coming to India because personally I always thought the wickets here would be a bit slower and would turn quite a bit. But I assume coming out of the monsoon season the wicket is still quite good. I feel the pitch might play a little bit slower because it has been used, but there could still be quite a few runs scored on this wicket.”
Even on a belter like the one in Ranchi, one man who shone bright amidst a run riot last night in the CSK-SRH game was Dale Steyn. He was the most economical bowler of the match and bagged two wickets. The Titans are vary of the Steyn factor. “We have played against Dale Steyn a lot and we have got our game plans against him. But make no mistake, he is a quality bowler and he is a bowler that you want to get on top of early on in the innings. We have certain strategies and game plans that we are going to look to implement and hopefully it comes off well for us,” Wiese said.
Wiese was also of the view that the team had improved a lot on the bowling front after their two games in the tournament. He added, “CSK has got a quality batting line-up and our bowlers were found wanting and we did not quite bowl where we should have and we came up short in the first game. So, it was a good learning curve for us and in the following game against the Heat we bowled a lot better. Hopefully in the next game we will keep moving forward and keep hitting those good lines and lengths.”
Wiese also hinted that dew would not play a huge role in their game since they would be playing the first game of the day wherein the conditions would be a lot drier as compared to the night match.
