Mahmood penalised on disciplinary grounds
Aces all-rounder fined USD 1000 for Code of Behaviour breach
Azhar Mahmood from the Auckland Aces was reprimanded and fined for breaching the Karbonn Smart Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20) Code of Behaviour during his team’s match against Hampshire at Centurion yesterday.
At a hearing held after play, Mahmood pleaded guilty to breaching Level 1.6 of the CLT20 Code of Behaviour, which relates to “pointing or gesturing towards the pavilion in an aggressive manner by a bowler or other member of the fielding side upon the dismissal of a batsman”.
He was was reprimanded and fined USD 1000 by CLT20 Match Referee David Boon.
The incident took place during the 19th over of the Hampshire innings when Mahmood dismissed Liam Dawson.
All Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum penalty of USD 2000.
For Level 1 breaches of the CLT20 Code of Behaviour, the CLT20 Match Referee’s decision is final and binding.
