Preview: Match 6 – Sydney Sixers vs Yorkshire
Spirited Yorkshire take on in-form Sixers
Match 6 of the Karbonn CLT20 2012 will feature a contest between the Sydney Sixers and Yorkshire.
The Sydney Sixers are back on the field after their victory over the Chennai Super Kings, while for Yorkshire, this will be their first outing in the tournament’s main event. As a first hurdle, Yorkshire had to overcome Trinidad & Tobago and Uva Next in the CLT20 2012 Qualifiers. They did that in style by beating both their opponents convincingly and they come into the tournament a confident unit.

Newlands Stadium, Cape Town
Both teams have plenty of in-form players. In a format that doesn’t afford players enough time to find form, it will be important that the guys in good nick do the job consistently. The Sydney Sixers’ pace duo of Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins will relish the home-like conditions they are likely to encounter; both players have shown the willingness to bowl the heavy ball, and they might continue to use the ploy against the Yorkshire batsmen who might not be too accustomed to playing the short delivery. Shane Watson is enjoying a dream run; the all-rounder, who won the Player of the Tournament award in the ICC World T20 recently, seems to have carried that form into the Karbonn CLT20 too.
In Phil Jaques, David Miller, Adil Rashid and Gary Balance, Yorkshire have four batsmen who are in good nick. Miller especially will be a crucial player in the Yorkshire line-up, given his knowledge of the local conditions. Ryan Sidebottom was in great form in the previous match, and he is likely to encounter conditions – moisture, movement and breeze – that assist his style of bowling at Cape Town.
Both teams have qualified for the CLT20 for the first time and hence they have never faced off before.
They Sydney Sixers are undefeated in their last six T20 matches.
Both teams will remain in Cape Town post this fixture. While the Sydney Sixers will take on the Highveld Lions in the afternoon match on October 18, Yorkshire will clash with defending champions Mumbai Indians later in the evening.
