Preview: Match 20 – Titans vs Delhi Daredevils
Semi-finals spots on the line as Group A bigwigs collide
Match 20 - the final Group Stage fixture of the Karbonn CLT20 2012 – will feature a contest between the Delhi Daredevils and Titans.
Both teams will keep a close eye on the result in the match between the Auckland Aces and the Perth Scorchers. If the Aces emerge victorious in that match, it will mean the Titans have to win this match to progress to the semi-finals. A victory in this contest will put them at 12 points and propel them to the top of the table.
The Delhi Daredevils, with ten points from three matches, are almost certain of a place in the last four. But if the Auckland Aces beat the Perth Scorchers in the evening game, it will come down to a question of net run-rate to determine which team goes through. Though the Delhi Daredevils are at an advantage at the moment, a big defeat (and a big win for the Aces) might just set them back in the order.

The formidable Delhi Daredevils batting line-up needs to pull its weight in this all-important match. Though Virender Sehwag played an uncharacteristic innings and rescued his team from trouble in the previous match, the team will be concerned that Mahela Jayawardene, Ross Taylor and Kevin Pietersen are yet to make a substantial contribution. David Warner has been warming the benches in this tournament and he will be itching to have a go; expect him to cause some damage if he gets an opportunity here.
The Titans will be hoping their opening pair of Henry Davids and Jaques Rudolph can set the tone at the top of the innings. While Rudolph has been in outstanding form (though he appeared out of sorts in the previous outing), the team will be hoping he can get back to his big-hitting ways. The 32-year-old Davids has been hitting the ball well; and his team will be hoping he can return to the form he displayed against the Auckland Aces and the Perth Scorchers. The team will also be hoping for runs from skipper Martin van Jaarsveld (who has had a quiet tournament) and Farhaan Behardien.
On the bowling front, Morne Morkel and Umesh Yadav (in the Delhi Daredevils line-up) and Alfonso Thomas and CJ de Villiers (in the Titans ranks) are the ones to keep an eye on.
Both teams will be meeting in a Twenty20 match for the first time.
The Centurion Park is the home ground of the Titans. They have won 17 of their 31 matches at the venue.
Morne Morkel will want to improve on his poor record at the Centurion Park. In seven appearances at the venue, he has only managed to pick up three wickets at an average of 57.67.
The Delhi Daredevils have a 100 percent record in run-chases at the Centurion Park.
The result of this match will determine which way the teams go from here. Depending on how the results pan out, one or both of the teams will progress to the semi-finals that will be played on October 25 and 26.
