CLT20 Warm-up Match 1: Yorkshire vs Sialkot Stallions
Gale, Rashid star in 23-run Yorkshire win
Skipper Andrew Gale’s half-century coupled with Adil Rashid’s wily legbreaks helped Yorkshire register a handsome 23-run win over the Sialkot Stallions here today. After winning the toss and choosing to take first strike, Gale and co posted a competitive 146 for seven in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, the Stallions could only manage 123 for six, as the Yorkshire bowlers bowled economical spells to restrict their opponents.
Gale’s 55-ball 61-run innings gave Yorkshire the ideal platform for a decent score; the Yorkshire captain was eventually run out by Bilawal Bhatti. Adam Lyth added to the momentum of the innings with his quickfire 28 (13 balls), before he was bowled by Qaiser Abbas. This helped Yorkshire set Sialkot a 147-run target.
For the Stallions, Bhatti picked up three wickets for 20 runs in his four overs. Umaid Asif, Sarfaraz Ahmed and Qaiser Abbas claimed a wicket each. Skipper Shoaib Malik went wicketless and conceded 23 runs in his three overs.
In reply, the Sialkot batsmen could only manage 123 runs for the loss of six wickets. Faisal Naved top-scored for the Stallions with a 27-ball 28. Haris Sohail (27) and Qaiser Abbas (24) were the only other batters to get 20-plus runs for Sialkot.
Adil Rashid, who picked up three wickets in his four overs, was the pick of the Yorkshire bowlers. Right-arm pacer, Steve Patterson also picked up two wickets in his four overs.
