Scorchers ‘keeper says tackling tough situations calmly will yield results in CLT20
Keen to make a dash for the title, the Scorchers will now be heading to Cape Town where they face off against the Delhi Daredevils next.
After rain stopped play here, Scorchers’ wicketkeeper-batsman, Luke Ronchi spoke to clt20.com about their campaign.
Excerpts from his interview:
On whether they have been working on their middle order
Yes, we have been and that is the thing. In the last game we didn’t work so well. Today we set a good platform for a good finish to our innings. Hopefully, we can continue with that in our next game in Cape Town and get a win.
On the Perth Scorchers’ CLT20 2012 campaign in South Africa
It has been okay. Today has been a bit disappointing because of the rain. Now we have to win the next two games. But we played some good cricket. Hopefully, we can get the weather out of our way, play some good cricket and do well.
On whether the players are in good touch and acclimatised to the conditions
Everyone has been really good. The conditions in Australia and South Africa are quite similar, so lot of the guys are sort of used to the pace and the bounce of the wickets. The guys have played some good cricket. They are in fine touch and hitting the ball well and bowling well. This game didn’t go the way we wanted it to, but now we have two games left, so we will make the most of those.
On CLT20 as a platform for players from different parts of the world
It is good fun and good cricket. You are playing international players and domestic players from different countries, so it is a really good place to test your skills. And Twenty20 cricket is competitive and is good fun to play.
On what will be the key to succeed here
Staying relaxed I think. We are sort of quiet calm about situations when things don’t go well. The guys are still pretty calm. We have some cool heads in some of the older guys so that is a big key for us. During the summer we played well so hopefully we get that chance again to play well I guess.
On how he has found the conditions as a wicketkeeper
They have been pretty good. Our first game in Centurion was very good with good pace and bounce, with catching and spinners bowling well; so I enjoyed it.
