Had a lot of fun together: Starc
Sixers’ pacer says his team played well as a unit
Starc spoke about how the Sixers worked as a unit and how they’ve been enjoying each other’s company while talking to clt20.com.
Excerpts from his brief interview:
Your thoughts on the win
It was very good game of cricket. We showed how strong we are with the ball and we came away with a great start in the first six overs. Brad [Haddin] and Michael [Lumb] showed how good they are to win by 10 wickets; and it’s an amazing thing to do so in the final.
Did you expect to get wickets so quickly?
No we didn’t. It was the change of plan to open with the spinners that paid off. They were four for nine, so it was an amazing start. They were on the back foot in the first six overs. They played very well to get to 121 in the end. But we showed what a great wicket it was to bat on when we won by 10 wickets in the end.
Your thoughts on run-chase
It was the partnership of the tournament. Obviously, in the final there is a lot of pressure with runs on the board and they made it easy in the end; and I think it was fantastic to watch.
Was it intimidating while bowling with the crowd supporting the Lions?
It was an amazing atmosphere. All I could hear was cheering. It was great to win here. It was an amazing tour. I am just too happy that we won. Whether it is runs or wickets, it is always the same game. We have performed well as a team. We have had a lot of fun together. We are enjoying each other’s company. It is always a great feeling.
