When: October 23, Day 16. The finale of the cricket carnival that has captured the world's imagination.

Where: Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. The city has been a wonderful co-host throughout the tournament, with spectators turning up to cheer teams, despite the fact that the home-boys, Deccan Chargers, made an early exit from the competition.

Who won: NSW Blues, lifted by a spectacular all-round effort from Brett Lee and a great performance on the field.

Man-of-the-Match:   Brett Lee's career best knock of 48 off 31 could not have come at a better time for his team. He came in to bat when his side were reeling under the T&T onslaught, and Lee ensured they got to a respectable and defendable total. And when he came out to bowl, he took two wickets early on, making it an ominous start for T&T. What made it a superb all-round outing for him was taking catch in the deep to dismiss the destructive Kieron Pollard.

Turning point:  Kieron Pollard's dismissal for 25 in the 15th over off a Hauritz delivery. Had the run machine from T&T stayed on, it could have been a red letter day in West Indies' cricketing history.

Hit of the Match: A thunderous six off Pollard's bat and Hauritz's bowling in the 15th over that travelled high over long-on and landed somewhere in the third tier of the stands. Pollard, and T&T's chances, were dismissed in the very next delivery.

Ball of the match: A straight, good length delivery that couldn't resist the invitation that William Perkins'exposed stumps offered. It was just the second ball of the innings, delivered by the magician of the day, Brett Lee.

Dot ball hero: Doug Bollinger, with 13 dots.

Fielding moment: A blinder from Moises Henriques to dismiss Navin Stewart in the 16th over.

Captain vs. Captain: Daren Ganga decided to put the opposition in after winning the big toss. He was dismissed for 19 off 20 balls, much earlier than his team would have liked. Simon Katich, the Blues' captain, scored 16 off 14 deliveries and would also be disappointed with his cheap dismissal.

Red-in-the-face moment: Doug Bollinger did what should never, ever be done in a T20 game - offer Kieron Pollard a free hit. The ball he bowled on account of overstepping was called wide, giving Pollard another go at the free hit. And the result was as predictable as it was exhilarating. A massive six over deep square leg.

Off-beat moment:  Dave Mohammed has made the fall of every T&T wicket an eagerly awaited affair with his peculiar brand of celebration. So when Ben Rohrer was caught off one of his deliveries in the 11th over, all eyes, and cameras, turned to him. He obliged, rolling on the field in his 'alligator death roll' style, ending the tumble by joining his hands in the Indian greeting of 'Namaste'. The world greets the T&T boys right back.
