When will the competition take place?
The first edition was to take place in December, 2008 in India. It was postponed following terrorist attacks in Mumbai in November as a mark of solidarity with the victims. It was later cancelled. The revised dates are October 8 - 23, 2009.

What are the match-timings?
Matches will be played at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. IST

What are the venues for games this year?
India will host the inaugural edition of CLT20. Delhi, Hyderabad and Bangalore - the home venues of the IPL teams competing this season - will host matches. However, the venue for subsequent editions of the competition will be decided each year.

What is the format of the tournament?
The teams will be divided into four groups of three each and will initially play each other on a league basis. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the second stage and four teams from the second stage will make it to the semi finals. A total of 23 matches will be played over a 16-day period in the inaugural edition of CLT20.

What is the total prize money that the tournament offers?
CLT20 offers a total sum of USD 6 million that is to be shared by teams and players. Out of this, USD 2.5 million will be awarded to the winning team.

What makes CLT20 different from other Twenty20 competitions?

This is the first time ever that domestic leagues from different nations will lock horns in a prestigious competition. CLT20 can be viewed as the World Cup of club cricket. It is a platform for domestic/club teams to perform at the highest level, preparing players for the next step - representing, or performing even better for, their countries.

Also, with a total spend of USD 6 million, CLT20 is the most lucrative international T20 contest and will directly benefit domestic clubs - a great boost for the game.

Who heads the CLT20 organising committee?
The CLT20 competition is chaired by Lalit Modi, who is also the Chairman and Commissioner of the Indian Premier League and Vice-President of the BCCI.

What are the rules governing the CLT20 competition?
CLT20 will follow specific regulations which are not dissimilar from any international cricket tournament in this format.

What are the rules governing players who represent more than one club?
A player can decide which side he wants to play for. CLT20 does not have regulations that govern the support staff.

What are the rules regarding players who represent rebel leagues?
CLT20 regulations are clearly defined in this area. Teams with players who haven't withdrawn from rebel leagues until the stipulated date will not have the right to participate in this tournament.

What are the provisions for abandoned matches?
Points from abandoned matches will be split equally between teams.

What happens in the case of a tie?
The super over will decide the winner.

Who will form the core of the umpiring and refereeing team of the tournament?
The tournament will feature the best Indian and international umpires and match referees.

Who takes a call on a player's suspect bowling action?
The on-field umpire will take action in the case of suspect bowling action. Once he has reported the matter, the player will be referred to the technical committee (made up of eminent members of the various boards) for corrective action.
